Laparoscopic Appendicectomy

Laparoscopic Appendicectomy

The end of your small intestine (bowel) empties into the beginning of your large bowel that is located in the right part of your lower abdomen (tummy). Your appendix is a narrow finger-shaped piece of intestine attached to the large bowel. If the tube becomes plugged and infected, appendicitis can develop. Acute appendicitis is the most common emergency surgical condition of the abdomen. Appendicitis (inflammation of the appendix)occurs at all ages in both sexes, but is more common between the ages of 10 -45 years. The treatment for appendicitis is an operation to remove the appendix. It is usual to remove the appendix under general anesthetic
