Lap Axillary Lymph node sampling
Retrieval of the sentinel lymph node has been used in the past for patients with skin and thyroid cancers. The procedure is now being performed on women with breast cancer. If the sentinel lymph node(s) are identified at the time of surgery and pathology of the node(s) is clear of metastatic disease, then theoretically the rest of the nodes down the lymph node chain should be clear.
